9-Week Drip Schedule

 

This schedule is designed to guide you step-by-step through the process of creating a hyper-realistic character, ensuring you have the time to work on each stage of the production pipeline. 

 

Week 1: Intro and Chapter 1 (Project Overview and Preparing for UE5)

  • Introduction to the course and the project.
  • [BONUS] Hyperreal members will receive the texture transfer scene.

Chapter 2 (UE5 Setup and Metahuman Creator)

  • Setting up the project file and importing initial assets into Unreal Engine.
  • [BONUS] Hyperreal members will receive the ZBrush scene.

Week 2: Chapter 3.1 (Eyes Lookdev)

  • A deep dive into creating and shading realistic eyes.

Week 3: Chapter 3.2 + 3.3 (Skin Lookdev)

  • Focus on developing a realistic skin shader.

Week 4: Chapter 3.4 (Hair Lookdev)

  • Developing realistic hair materials for each of our grooms.
  • [BONUS] Hyperreal members will receive the Maya groom scene.

Week 5: Chapter 3.5 (Clothes Lookdev)

  • Developing and finalising the materials for the character's clothing.

Chapter 3.6 (Finalising and Rendering)

  • Bringing all the elements together and preparing the scene for rendering.

Week 6: Chapter 4 (Pathtracing)

  • Advanced rendering techniques using Unreal Engine's pathtracer to achieve final image quality.

Week 7: Chapter 5 (Hair Sim)

  • Simulating the character's hair for dynamic and realistic movement.

Week 8: Chapter 6.1 + 6.2 (Lighting Final Cinematic)

  • Creating a professional lighting setup for the final cinematic shots.

Week 9: Chapter 6.3 and Outro (Comp and Publishing Final Artwork)

  • The final stage covers post-production, compositing, and preparing the final artwork for your portfolio.
  • [BONUS] Hyperreal members will receive the final UE5 lookdev scene.
